Duckling "Mommy Dearest"
"No more wire cages!" I deserve that after not insisting on what I know to be the proper way to prepare the ducklings floor space. Accidents happen, but this was totally preventable.

The first Xray shows a side view of the luxated (twisted) knee. The second shows the knee after it was realigned.

       

This is what can happen when you use wire mesh cages without adequate protection. Use towels, fleece, anything to cover a bare bottomed floor. Not just where they rest, but everywhere they walk. If it's a solid floor they can develop splay leg or other injuries if they don't have a good gripping surface. Even a piece of pond liner is better than nothing.
